5 Best Midnight Supper Spots for UM Students

As the end of the semester approaches, the season of staying up late to rush assignments and study for exam has just begun. While foregoing sleep to do your work, it is important not to forget about your growling stomach in the middle of the night. How can one’s brain function properly with an empty stomach? To make sure students have enough food option in the middle of the night, This Just In has compiled the best supper spots for hungry students.
1) Murni Discovery SS2

Murni is known for their big portion of food with budget friendly price. They have a wide variety of food choices, offering Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western food. They also have a variety of drink choices, with fancy names like ‘I Love You’, ‘I Miss You’, ‘I Kiss You’, even ‘Poison’, ‘Don’t Worry’ and ‘Be Happy’.
Murni Discovery’s food are reasonably priced. You can get a big plate of Nasi Lemak Biasa with RM2.50 and a Roti Canai with only RM1. If you’re up for something fancier, you can order a Chicken Chop with RM8.50 and a Spaghetti Bolognese with RM8.50.
Besides having affordable food, the ambience in Murni is good too. Murni is a good place to chill and hangout with your buddies on a Friday night as it is very comfortable. Although the place is comfortable, they can be very packed during peak hours.
2) Yan Yan A One Restaurant (Yanyan Dim Sum) – *non halal*

Imagine a restaurant selling dim sum 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can have dim sum not only for breakfast, but also for lunch, tea, dinner and even supper! You don’t have to worry that you’re too early for breakfast, or too late for supper as this restaurant do not have resting hours.
Another highlight of this restaurant is its affordable food. Each plate of dim sum costs only RM3, which is a lot cheaper than other dim sum restaurants! Besides that, they do have a lot of delicious dim sum choices, from steamed buns to steamed dim sum and fried dim sum. No wonder this is the place where students like to go as it is affordable and offers a variety of food choices.
The restaurant is very spacious and air-conditioned. It is a good place for a big bunch of people to gather as they have big tables and each table can fit 10 people.
3) Piccadilly Restaurant

Picadilly Restaurant is famous for their wide variety of food choices. With over 400 food choices in the menu, they offer everything you can think of, from the local Malay, Chinese, Indian food, to Thai, Vietnam, Italian, Western and Japanese food. Besides having a variety of selections, their food are reasonably priced for students as a plate of fried rice costs RM5.90 while a plate of burger with sides costs RM7.90.
This restaurant is usually packed with people at night, especially when it is football season. Football fans will be gathering in the restaurant at night, watching football match together. People like to gather here to chill and order beers too as they do sell beer in a reasonable price.
4) Medan Selera 223 (Nasi Lemak Bungkus)

This food court is known for their nasi lemak bungkus. What can be better than chilling with your friends over a cup of tea and some nasi lemak in the middle of the night?
In this food court, there are two stalls famous for their nasi lemak bungkus. One is Nasi Lemak Panas Gerai Yatie (red) and another one is Nasi Lemak Panas Suri (blue). As written, each stall has a label for their nasi lemak bungkus, one in red and one in blue.
If you’re a first timer here, people will recommend you to try nasi lemak from both stalls and decide which you prefer better. If you prefer sweet sambal, the red labelled nasi lemak will be your pick; if you prefer spicier sambal, the blue labelled nasi lemak will be your preference. Since it costs less than RM2 for a packet of nasi lemak, both are worth a try.
5) Nasi Lemak Bumbung

The name Nasi Lemak Bumbung is derived from the venue which is set at an alley with no roof. According to UM students, this is a must-visit place for supper. It is always packed with people.
A plate of nasi lemak with fried chicken costs RM6. With crispy and juicy fried chicken infused with spices and herbs, sunny-side up egg, coconut milk rice, fragrant spicy sambal, fried anchovies and peanuts, this is a dish not to be missed!
If you don’t feel like eating nasi lemak, you can also try their indo mee with egg.
